This Week...

at Vanbeurden we have been busy sorting out our new look newsletter which if you are a subscriber will be with you this evening. Also we have got some great new stock in, including some beautiful jewellery from Sussex based designer David Smith. We will be busy photographing these pieces on Friday and they will be on the site next week.

 Just to add another string to our bow we are going to be selling some great vintage pieces for the home. As usual they will prices for little purses, we will get cracking and get these on the site asap.

Vanbeurden set up shop today in Limes Bistro in Lindfield, Sussex. While customers enjoyed lunch and purchased designer clothes up to 80% off, we had a little look at the pics of celebs at the annual Met Ball in New York. Not everyone is impressed with the amount of metallic hues on the clothes and faces, and the general over the top garb. But so what, thats the whole point of a Ball! We may be all doom and gloom, but I seriously doubt its affecting Mrs Beckham et all. These outfits are not mean't for a walk in park , no one looked hideous but Madonna what were you thinking?

We have spent the afternoon sorting through our latest delivery, we have had some fantastic summer stock in. Our favourites today have been the Sass and Bide T-Shirts. Designed in Australia, Sass and Bide are an edgy yet feminine label. The T-Shirts are made from Eygptian cotton, and are a longer cut making them flattering for all shapes. We cannot rate them high enough. To be honest they were originally nearly £100 a pop so we would expect the King of T-Shirts! At Vanbeurden they will be £20, should be on the website very soon.

Its certainly not......

summer!  A few sunny but not hot days and everyones gone mad. It seems like every British female under the age of 30 is wearing strappy tops and mini skirts, for goodness sake! Am I the only person still feeling sick at the thought of a whole evening spent with a Bic and a pot of Clarins self tanner.I'm still feeling the post Christmas spread and its far too soon to address it with Easter round the corner, so no shimmying anywhere in body-con dresses or vest tops for me. I am advocating a wet cold Easter wrapped up in warm Cashmere from Libelula and lovely dresses like Malene Birger's Lianne and Evonne dresses which are easy on the stomach. All topped off with plenty of Lindt chocolate bunnies!!

Very Yummy

The thing that makes shopping really worthwhile is when you spot that item that you really have to have. Not need, its not about the needing its the all consuming wanting thats the point. If you need something, its not quite as exciting as purchasing just for the thrill of it. Well, I'm a hard person to please and its not often that I really love something. But this jacket from By Malene Birger is the absolute business, I saw it when it first came out for A/W 2008 and seriously thought about parting with £180 for it. I didn't and boy, do I regret it. Don't make the same mistake its a piece you will wear and wear again. There is a matching pencil skirt (will be on the website next week)for a smart outfit or team with jeans, blouse and heels for anything else. You know the other thing about shopping? When you see something you love buy it, because when you see it again it won't be in your size!
